48 Hours

There’s about 3,000 things I want to write about.  The last couple days in particular have brought up so much.

The events (in no particular order):

- Almost 9 hour bus ride on Greyhound from Dallas to Little Rock, including a stop where narcotics officers boarded the bus and asked to see everyone’s ID and tickets before taking someone off the bus and finding drugs in their pillow.

- Hare Krishna meeting at SMU with amazing vegan food and a discussion on race/bodies

- Class on Gender and Globalization at SMU

- Crashing a sorority recruitment event at SMU (which I was able to walk right into)

- Speaking and meeting with Spectrum, the LGBTQ group at SMU

- Listening to “Texarkana” by R.E.M. while in Texarkana.

- Fundraiser tonight at a church in Little Rock to help the legal costs for a queer couple, one of whom was attacked by a police officer in rural Arkansas.

- Meeting young queer kids in Little Rock, who appeared to be way more comfortable with themselves than I was at their age.

I hope to go into all of these at some point into greater detail. And I will throw in that I keep meeting people who remind me of my friends.  I’ve mentioned it before, but it is very hard to feel alone or lost when you are constantly reminded by those in your life.
